This past weekend, the Hammersmith team brought our families together to serve our community. We chose to assemble and donate Welcome Baskets to UMOM New Day Center in Phoenix, Arizona. UMOM restores hope and rebuilds lives by providing shelter, services, and affordable housing for people experiencing homelessness. The baskets are handed out at intake at UMOM and are full of personal care items so that they can enjoy a hot shower with the comfort of their own supplies. These baskets play a big role in the life of a person who is working to overcome homelessness.

The Process
We recruited our families to help us sort and distribute all of the items including towels and washcloths, shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper, and oral care too.
Some volunteers were more helpful than others….baby Teddy was much more interested in the empty boxes!
The Results!
In all, we packed 20 Welcome Baskets for UMOM families! Taking time away from busy lives to remember those less fortunate was a wonderful way to bring our team together. Supporting our community is at the foundation of Hammersmith Support and finding new ways to give back is always worth our time!
