Nashville Community Connections

From Unicycle to Nashville Community Connections: How a Website Redesign Elevated a Community Mission

In 2022, our team at Hammersmith Support volunteered on-site with a local organization in Nashville, Tennessee, which was then known as Unicycle. What we experienced left a lasting impact. As our founder, Heather, shared, “Three years ago, we volunteered on-site and were deeply moved by their mission to help families get back on their feet so their children can thrive in school. It was such meaningful work that we knew we wanted to become more involved.”

That deeper involvement recently came to life in the form of a full rebrand and website redesign, transforming Unicycle into Nashville Community Connections (NCC). Here’s what we did, and why it matters for any business or nonprofit looking to refresh their digital presence.

Why a Rebrand?

The original site lacked clarity and cohesion. Users had a hard time finding what they needed, and the organization’s mission wasn’t shining through. The new name, Nashville Community Connections, more clearly reflects the scope of the work they do to connect families with vital resources across the city.

What We Did

1. A Clearer, More Strategic Site Architecture
We streamlined the navigation and structure to ensure users can quickly find:

  • Donation locations
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Information on NCC’s various community programs

Everything is now organized intuitively, with clearer calls to action and paths to get involved.

2. New Branding, Same Heart
From the new name and logo to updated imagery and messaging, the site now aligns with the organization’s mission to support kids in school. Visuals like backpacks, school buses, and kid-friendly icons help immediately tell the story of who they serve — and why it matters.

3. Eye-Catching Homepage Banner
We incorporated a moving video of kids in school right into the homepage banner, capturing attention and reinforcing the heart of NCC’s mission from the moment someone lands on the page.

4. Live Social Media Feed
We embedded NCC’s social feed directly onto the site, creating a dynamic space that showcases upcoming events, real-time updates, and community engagement. It keeps content fresh and encourages repeat visits.

The Impact

The new site doesn’t just look better — it works better. It tells a clearer story, drives more engagement, and makes it easy for the Nashville community to get involved. Most importantly, it reflects the heart of NCC’s mission: helping families so that kids can thrive in school and in life.
