Care for the Caregivers website

Client Highlight: Care 4 the Caregivers

During November, we like to focus on our nonprofit clients to support them during a busy season and also to highlight the amazing work they do in our communities. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is Giving Tuesday, a global movement that inspires generosity and fuels positive change. For nonprofit organizations, it’s more than just a day—it’s an opportunity to amplify their mission, engage supporters, and secure vital resources to sustain their work. Falling right after the consumer-driven Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday shifts the focus to giving back. For nonprofits, it often marks the start of their year-end fundraising efforts, providing crucial funding to support programs, expand services, and create lasting change in communities.

We are excited to highlight the improved website for Care 4 the Caregivers.

What is Care 4 the Caregivers?

Care 4 the Caregivers aims to reduce caregiver burnout for parents raising children with disabilities. Caregivers of children with disabilities often experience PTSD-like symptoms due to the added stress of caring for their children without adequate support and resources. Their mission is to properly support caregivers so their children can reach their full potential. Founded in 2018 by Michelle Thorne, Care 4 the Caregivers has evolved from providing educational webinars, meditations, and fitness programs to its members, who were primarily mothers, to offering even greater resources to all family members, including fathers, grandparents, and foster care parents.

Website Pain Points

As Care 4 the Caregivers has grown and changed, the organization found that their website was no longer serving their needs. On of the largest issues was that the site lacked functionality, making it challenging for visitors to navigate. In addition, with more than 40 webinars, 25 downloadable PDFs, and a wide range of other services and events, Michelle and her team were overwhelmed keeping up with the day to day technical work.

Hammersmith Support to the Rescue

Our goal was to streamline and organize the information on the website while improving the functionality and navigation. We accomplished this by:

  • Updating the event purchasing experience to make it easier for visitors to purchase.
  • Streamlined the process of adding products less confusing for the C4C team.
  • Simplified the pop-up on the event calendar so that it did not include all the details of the event, which made the pop-up smaller and easier to read.
  • Added “learn more” and “add to cart” pop-ups so that visitors can make direct purchases from the event calendar.
  • Refined the homepage and the main navigation to make it more clear and easier to use

Michele shared what she was most frustrated by on the site:

“My biggest pain point was not having a tech team that I could rely on 24/7. When we began Care 4 the Caregivers we had one or two events per month, had low traffic on the website- when you fast forward to today we have on average one event per day, and average 10,000 page views per month then we needed a more robust team who could respond quickly if something happened on our website.”

The Giving Group

Hammersmith Support founder Heather Locke was so impressed by the work that Care 4 the Caregivers is doing in our community that she introduced Michele to the Giving Group. The Giving Group is a collection of 100 friends (including Heather!) who are dedicated to making amplified contributions to four selected non-profits each year. Each group member donates $100, totaling $10,000 to be donated to a nonprofit. We are excited to share that Michele’s outstanding presentation to the Giving Group resulted in Care 4 the Caregivers being awarded a $10,000 donation!
